Case study

Building Menopause-Friendly Workplaces Across The Private Sector with UNFPA

The goal

As part of our work for UNFPA, the United Nations Population Fund – which is the UN’s sexual and reproductive health agency, we are supporting the Coalition for Reproductive Justice in Business, and supported the development of a best-practice case study highlighting how private-sector companies can support women in their workforce and supply chains who are experiencing menopause. The aim was to create a practical resource for companies worldwide — offering insights, real examples, and clear considerations for corporates.

Infinity’s Approach

A research-driven foundation

We began by conducting an extensive review to understand the global landscape of menopause at work. This included analysing secondary data on how many working women are affected, the physical and psychological impacts on their working lives, and the business case for action. We also reviewed existing frameworks from the literature, including UNFPA’s own publications, to identify evidence-based approaches that companies can adopt.

Learning from leading companies

To ground the case study in real-world experience, we interviewed representatives from two private-sector Champions from the Coalition — Bayer and Essity. Through these conversations, we explored their motivations, internal processes, implementation journeys, and the tangible impact of their initiatives. Their insights shaped the narrative and gave the case study authenticity and credibility.

Turning insights into practical guidelines

We drafted the report, ensuring that key messages, frameworks, and examples from Bayer and Essity were presented in an accessible and actionable way. We focused on helping the audience relate with the economic and social case of supporting women through menopause.

A strong and accessible final product

We translated the findings into a set of practical lessons and takeaways, supported by well-designed visuals and frameworks that make the report easy to navigate.

The impact

The report was officially launched during a UN General Assembly side event in September 2025, in the presence of private-sector leaders, policymakers, researchers, and civil society organisations. The core message from the report resonated strongly at the event: supporting women through menopause is not only the right thing to do — it is also a smart, strategic choice.

We loved this project because…

Supporting UNFPA in elevating this issue at the global level — and having the report launched at the UN General Assembly side event — was a privilege. As a woman-led consultancy, we are proud to have played a small part in advancing a conversation that is long overdue and, ultimately, transformative for millions of women in the workforce. We hope that the report will serve as a tool for more companies to take action.
